Regulatory Information

Welcome to the Imison & Co website

Covid-19 update

Usual business in unusual circumstances.

Working practice and offices

Imison & Co remains operational, and we are ready to assist you. We request that existing clients contact the notary or notarial assistant principally dealing with your file directly via email. For all new enquiries, please contact us at, and we will be delighted to assist you.
Mindful of the safety and well-being of our clients and staff, we have taken the decision to change our protocols and we are no longer offering appointments at our office building for individual clients. This keeps our clients and staff safer.
During the lock-down period we are now offering 'drive-through' (or 'walk-by') appointments at a notary's home address in South-West London, and East Sussex in the Eastbourne and Brighton area. We are also offering the option of a home appointment on a cost basis. This allows us to continue to assist our individual clients whilst ensuring full compliance with government guidelines on social distancing and home working.
For our corporate clients we continue to offer appointments in the City, appointments at your premises or your client's premises, and appointments at a nominated home address on a cost basis.

Apostilles and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office - ' legalisation '

The standard and premium legalisation services are open. Turnaround time may be slower than usual owing to public health restrictions.

Consulates and Embassies

Most Consulates and Embassies are open, although some remain closed. This changes day-to-day, so please contact us for more information.

We have a large network of carefully curated, highly experienced translators who are all able to work remotely. We continue to coordinate translations as normal as this aspect of our business is unaffected. If you require a translation, please get in touch with us at,or and we would be delighted to help.

Remote notarisation and e-signatures

We have received queries regarding signing documents in a notary's presence via video conferencing technology. Our regulator has released guidance on this - please contact us for more information. We have also received several queries regarding the validity of electronic signatures on digital documents. Currently, whether a facsimile or electronic signature will be accepted in lieu of a wet ink signature largely depends on the end-user and the jurisdiction in which a document will be used. We will continue to post updates regarding remote notarisation, wet ink requirements, and e-signatures.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. In the meantime, we wish you and your families good health and wellbeing over the next few weeks.

Kind regards,

Ella Imison
